What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of offering funded support for people with disability, along with their families and carers.
The NDIS is a lifelong approach that offers you choice in your supports and control around how those supports can be provided and who can provide them. The NDIS supports people with disability to build skills and capability so they can participate in the community and employment.

Am I elegible to receive funding from the NDIS?
You may be eligible to participate in the NDIS if:
When documenting the impact of a person’s disability a general practitioner (GP) or other health professional will be asked to write down how your disability impacts your mobility/motor skills; communication; social interaction; learning; self-care; and self-management.

- you have a permanent disability that significantly affects your ability to take part in every day activities
- you are under 65 when entering the scheme
- you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent visa or a Protected Special Category visa; and live in Australia where the NDIS is available.

Temporary Transformation Payment (TTP)
From 1 July 2019, providers of attendant care and community and centre based activities have access to a higher support price limit through a Temporary Transformation Payment (TTP). The TTP is a conditional loading to assist registered providers with any costs associated in transitioning to the NDIS. ASTERIA is eligible to charge the Temporary Transformation Payment (TTP).
Accordingly, as an organisation committed to transformation in the sector and quality in service delivery, ASTERIA includes the TTP loading for applicable services to all clients.

What services and support will the NDIS fund?
People who meet the NDIS access requirements are called participants. Participants receive funded supports and an individual plan towards accessing these services and funds:

- access to mainstream services and supports - the support and services you get from your doctor or school
- access to community services and supports - the activities and services you get from people or groups in your local community
- access informal support arrangements - the care and help you get from your family and friends
- reasonable and necessary funded supports - things relating to your disability that you need to live your life and increase your options such as getting a job or participating in more activities in the community.

Who is responsible for the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is the independent Commonwealth government agency responsible for implementing the NDIS.
